DASTRI

Service / 2016

ENSCI-Les Ateliers in partnership with DASTRI

DASTRI is a french public health service bringing specific waste containers to patients in self medication, particularly for the needles used during diabetes treatment. Those waste cannot be mixed in public waste for safety reasons.

I noticed that pharmacists are key to the systeme. They handle the distribution and gathering of the boxes, but also manage the public education. But this service is for free, and it costs them in time, storage and risks.

My project was first to study the relationship between DASTRI and pharmacists to identify problematic areas. After interviewing pharmacist, I was able to write a research booklet detailing the situation, and what it may become if no solution were found
In order to solve the major problem of stock management in pharmacy, I chose to introduce a second bar code on the box, working with current stock software, to automatise deliveries.
